SAILING.

LEARN TO SAIL.

This course will introduce participants to dinghy sailing, teaching you all the knowledge and skills needed to set sail safely. Centred around having fun, developing a love for sailing and building water confidence, this course is a great start to your sailing journey.

  • Boats (RS Quest) and Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) are provided throughout the course.

  • YNZ qualified coaches.

  • YNZ Level 1 certified course, participants awarded Level 1 certifications upon completion of the course.

  • Non-member participants will receive a short-term social membership for the duration of the course.

TEST THE WATERS.

  • Where: On Takapuna Beach, directly in front of the Takapuna Boating Club.

  • Who: Suitable for anyone aged 16 years and over. No previous sailing experience is required. You must be able to swim 50m wearing a lifejacket.

  • Cost: $300 for Takapuna Boating Club Active Members, $400 for Non-Members.

  • Limited space on each course (minimum of 4 and maximum of 8)

COURSE INFORMATION.

We’re excited to introduce a Level 1.5 Learn to Sail Course for sailors who have completed the YNZ Level 1 Programme and want to build on their skills in the RS Quest. Over 4 weeks you’ll learn how to:

  • Use the gennaker

  • Sail on the trapeze

  • Develop basic race tactics
