Takapuna Boating Club runs weekend regattas for youth and senior dinghy sailors, multihulls, and wind-surfers throughout the year. Takapuna offers one of the best sailing venues in Auckland, if not the world and has hosted numerous world and national championships in recent years. Most of New Zealand's Olympic yachtsmen and women have trained off Takapuna Beach before heading to success overseas.

This season Takapuna Boating Club hosted the 2015 Tanner and Tauranga Cups (P-Class nationals), the 2015 Laser, Laser Radial and Laser Masters nationals and the 2015 Javelin nationals, along with other regional and local championships.
