Paddling at TBC
Takapuna Boating Club has over 50 ocean surf ski paddlers, making it the largest club for ocean paddling in New Zealand. Ocean paddling is one of the three recognised disciplines of Canoe Racing New Zealand and growing in popularity throughout New Zealand. Races range from 10km to over 30km and take place in the open ocean, with a preference to following the swell and wind. TrainingExperienced paddlers train most mornings from TBC with Saturday being more of a speed session and Sunday a longer paddle. CoachingWe are privileged to have Katie Pocock - recently ranked World Number One on the Ocean paddling circuit - as our resident TBC surf ski coach.
Katie holds a coaching group for beginner through to intermediate paddlers from the Boating Club in Takapuna. These sessions are available to members and non-members. The cost is $15 per session (it is recommended paddlers take around four sessions) and $10 to hire a TBC club ski, paddle and life jacket.
Time: 6 - 7pm
Day: Thursday nights
Venue: TBC
Coaching will continue until the end of March 2009, then the session time will change to the weekend over winter (day and time will be published). To book, please either contact Katie directly on 021 932 116 or book at the office.
