Takapuna Boating Club

Situated in one of the best sailing areas in the world, the Hauraki Gulf is on our doorstep. Located on the beautiful Takapuna Beach foreshore, just 10 minutes drive from Auckland’s CBD, the Club enjoys stunning sea views and world-class facilities and offers its members many excuses to visit regularly thanks to its full sailing and social calendar.

To all the volunteers who made these regattas such a great success! Starting with the RS:X Nationals in December and through not only all the World events, but also through all the Pre-World regattas and Sail Auckland. The patrol boat crews, the race management personnel, the tractor drivers, the night watch who refuelled all the boats, the sign on people, the lunch ladies, the recorders in the race office, the rubbish crew, the security people, the measurers, the radio operators, the office crew, the Bayswater gang, the trolley dolleys............

The jobs and the people were numerous but there was always someone willing to fill a gap or change duties or just be there! And there were the people that kept the systems flowing. With each event there were new faces, some who helped from the beginning kept coming back for more and one of the best features of the whole summer of events is the friends we have made both volunteers, international jury and most importantly, the sailors!

Thank you all most sincerely for your time and enthusiasm and we hope you all enjoyed your summer as much as we did.

Our summer of National, Pre-World and World Sailing Championships has come to an end but we still have 6 more weeks of Club sailing including the ANZAC WEEKEND REGATTA. (Refer Notice of Race)

This fabulous summer continues and the temperatures remain in the 20’s. So many of our visitors are now at home in the cooler weather of the northern hemisphere and in some cases the ice and snow still lingers. Their sun tans will be fading but we truat they have many great memories of a New Zealand summer, the sand and the sea and the regattas. We wish them all the best and will watch the results of all the international regattas and the Olympics with more interest as we can now put faces to all those names.
